The Grove City Library is thrilled to host a special storytime book reading on Tuesday, October 25, at 12 p.m. celebrating Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio and presented by Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free, international program originally founded by Dolly Parton that invites parents to enroll their children from birth to age five to have a free, age-appropriate book mailed to them each month until they turn five. Mrs. DeWine led the launch of the expansion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Ohio in 2019 and frequently travels to Ohio schools and libraries in support of the Imagination Library and inspiring kids to read. All children in Ohio are eligible, and the program is available at no cost to families. Ohio parents may enroll their children online at ohioimaginationlibrary.org

This special program celebrates the Imagination Library whose misson, much like SPL's, is to inspire a love of reading from birth. This is not a political event, nor does SPL endorse any political view or candidate. Political views will not be promoted nor discussed.

About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was founded in 1995 by Dolly Parton to “[inspire] kids to love to read” and to provide kids with books no matter their family’s income. The program invites parents to enroll their children from birth to age five to have a free, age-appropriate book mailed to them each month until they turn five. Starting first only in Parton’s hometown county of Sevier, Tennessee, the program quickly became “such a success that in 2000 a national replication effort was underway.” The program collaborates with local affiliate sponsors and has continued to grow, expanding internationally. With the help of local affiliates, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has gifted more than 150 million books to date (Source: imaginationlibrary.com)

About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio

Mrs. DeWine was inspired to launch the Ohio expansion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library after seeing the impact it had on her own grandchildren in Greene County. The program was only available in a few Ohio counties at the time before Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio was officially founded in 2019 with financial support from the Ohio General Assembly and affiliates across the state. It began in select Ohio counties before expanding to all Ohio counties by November 2020. Ohio parents may enroll their children online at ohioimaginationlibrary.org.
