The Patron Services Manager is a compassionate individual who is ready for anything and is able to interact and connect with patrons from a variety of backgrounds. The Patron Services Manager manages a team, providing motivation, structure, and guidance to enable them to consistently deliver a full suite of high-quality library service to the community. The Patron Services Manager is committed to lifelong learning and ready to uphold the mission of the Library.
Salary Range: $52,000 - $104,000 annually
This position can work remotely up to 25% of the time!
Supervision:
- Responsible for daily operation of Patron Services department, overseeing all routines including, but not limited to: opening and closing procedures, check-in and check-out of materials, issuance of user cards, collection of fines and fees, operation of telephone system, and retrieval of any closed-stack items.
- Participates in hiring, training, management and evaluation of department personnel
- Shares responsibility for building supervision, and regularly assigned as supervisor in charge
Library Functions:
- Works closely with supervisor, Information Technology Manager, and Technology Services Librarian to assure smooth operation of LEAP
- Works with supervisor and fellow Patron Services Librarian to coordinate services
- Works with supervisor to develop and implement goals and new procedures for Patron Services
- Responsible for selecting, training, supervising and evaluating department personnel
- Participates with other librarians in selection and merchandising of materials which reflect the interests and needs of library patrons and the greater community
- Prepares bibliographies, book lists, displays, , that promote library services
- Makes appropriate budget recommendations to supervisor
- Provides monthly reports
- Demonstrates a commitment to equity and inclusion in all aspects of the Library
- Attends conferences and meetings that relate to the library
- Regularly reads professional literature to keep abreast of new trends in the field
- Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Ability to read titles on shelves and use a computer
- Ability to use keyboard for minimum of two-hour shift
- Ability to assist in emergency evacuation of customers if needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.L.I.S. from an A.L.A. accredited school or equivalent experience
- Extensive public library experience
- Ability to effectively supervise library and personnel to achieve desired results
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patrons
- Ability to interpret community interests and needs and to translate them into appropriate library services
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
