Staff finds info for WW2 memorial overseas

ThisWeek Grove City Record published a story about the efforts of Menno Polderman of the Netherlands to build a memorial to the crew of a B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber shot down near his grandfather's farm in 1943. Among the crew was Grove City High School Class of 1935 graduate Ernest Trickett, who died in the crash.

Polderman continues to work with the library's reference department to find information about Trickett. Anyone with any information or material about Trickett can contact the library's reference department at 614-875-6716, extension 503.

Local History Available Online

The Grove City Library's Reference/Adult Services Department maintains a joint collection of local historical images with the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society.

Using a tool called Content DM, reference staff are making these images available online for the first time to the public. The online collection can be accessed through SPL's home page. Under "Digital Image Collection," click the "Enter" button to access the website. The same link appears under "Research" and "eBooks and more."

New images will be continually added to the online collection from the more than 6,000 images that are currently part of the archive.

For more information about the collection, contact the Reference Department at 614-875-6716 ext. 503 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
